Associations are established with a specific purpose to offer valuable benefits to their members, it creates a sense of community so that the vision of the association is continued and materialised. More importantly, associations provide numerous resources and benefits for members and affiliates such as education, professional certification, industry standardization, personal development, advocacy and even lobbying for government support for legislation & policy in advancing the field as well as the scope of practice for the discipline. In the west, in particular North America and Europe, associations are well established and governed professionally. In China and Asia, association management is at an infant stage.
