The American Express Meetings and Events 2013 Meetings Forecast has predicted that meetings in the Asia Pacific region will grow by 5% on average this year. This research is further supported by research carried out by Reed Travel Exhibitions, which confirms that CIBTM Hosted Buyers identified Singapore, Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea as key destinations of interest for placing outbound MICE business.

Jeffrey Xu, Reed Travel Exhibitions, CIBTM Project Manager commented, “Our research found that 32% of all buyers surveyed named Singapore and Japan as a preferred destination for outbound MICE events. Other destinations identified were Thailand (29%), Hong Kong (28%), Taiwan (27%), and South Korea (26%). These figures highlight the potential for Asian exhibitors who are interested in using CIBTM as a platform to push their business out to Hosted Buyers attending the show”.

To further support these findings, the American Express Meetings forecast also found that two thirds of respondents based in Asia predicted that their budgets would increase in 2013 to meet the demand for more, larger scale meetings and events in the region. Asian exhibitors who have already confirmed their attendance at CIBTM 2013 include Korea Tourism Organisation, Philippine Department of Tourism, Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau, Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau and the Okura Group.
